The cash book is the statutory record (SZJA Act, Annex 5) of your cash income and expenses. In Penzum, it’s built up automatically — there’s no separate “new cash-book entry” button.

Enabling it

Under Settings → Cash Book, you’ll find an Enable Cash Book checkbox.
Under the VSZJA (itemised entrepreneurial income tax) tax form, the cash book turns on automatically — for other tax forms, it’s only needed if you have any cash income or expenses. If not, leave it off — it won’t appear in the menu.
When enabling it, you can also set an opening cash balance (the amount of cash on hand at the start of the year, or at the start of your records) — leave it blank if starting from zero.

How does an entry get in?

There’s no dedicated entry form — an item appears in the cash book because you selected Cash as the payment method when recording an invoice payment or an expense:
  • Income: a paid invoice with payment method set to Cash
  • Expense: a recorded expense with payment method set to Cash

Display

On the /cash-book page (add ?year= to pick a year, from 2023 onward), entries are grouped by day: the day’s opening balance, line items (serial number, description, client/supplier, document reference, amount — green for income, red for expense), and a daily closing balance that carries forward. Summary cards at the top: Opening balance, Cash income, Cash expenses, Closing balance.

Printing

The cash book can also be exported as a PDF (via your browser’s print function), with the relevant legal citation and a signature line — the same mechanism as the Reports page.
