# Tax Calculator

> Real-time tax estimate, in actual and scenario mode

At the top of the tax calculator you'll find an **Actual / Scenario** toggle.

## Actual mode

Estimates your annual tax burden from your real, recorded income, expenses, and (if you have one) salary data. Updates automatically as new income/expenses come in — no need to calculate manually. Current values also appear in the Dashboard summary.

**What does it show?**

* Estimated annual personal income tax (SZJA)
* Social security contribution (TB) and social contribution tax (szocho)
* Local business tax (HIPA) *(if configured)*
* Total estimated tax burden

### KATA taxpayers

If you're a KATA sole trader, the calculator doesn't show a detailed breakdown — just your fixed tax burden:

* Annual tax burden: **HUF 600,000** (12 × HUF 50,000, since KATA can only be chosen full-time)
* This amount is independent of revenue — as long as you stay within the HUF 18 million annual ceiling

## Scenario mode

In the scenario analyzer, you can freely adjust income, tax form, business type, expenses, and personal circumstances (number of children, disability, age-based benefits) — without changing anything in your real data. If any value differs from your profile, a "Scenario" badge appears, and a **Reset** button lets you return to your real data at any time.

This is useful, for example, to see how your tax burden would look under a different tax form, income level, or business type — but always make the final decision with a professional.

Inside the scenario view, a secondary **Comparison / Detailed** toggle switches how the calculation is displayed.

## Effect of employment income

If you're a part-time sole trader and have recorded your salary data on the [Employment](/en/employment) page, the calculator automatically accounts for family/personal tax benefits already used at your employer — so it avoids double-counting, and projects your remaining social security contribution more accurately.

<Warning>
  The calculator provides an estimate, not an official tax assessment. Verify the figures with your accountant before making actual tax payments.
